Raised on a Farm

Originally a farm on the far west side of Houston, Fonn Villas was developed in the 1960s by Kickerillo, and quickly became a subdivision populated by employees of ESSO Exploration.  Three and four bedroom homes with family rooms, fireplaces and double garages were built on wooded lots configured in cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets.  Today, these homes are owned by young professionals with children, as well as by original owners.

Fonn Villas borders Bendwood Park on three sides, which is a 13.54 acre park.  Bendwood Park was established in 1961, and provides the subdivision with open space and a natural setting, as well as city-maintained playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts and fitness stations.

Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial Middle School borders the subdivision on the east, and neighborhood children attend Frostwood Elementary or Bunker Hill Elementary, Memorial Middle School, and Memorial High School.

In 1962, the Fonn Villas Swim Club, which is located in the center of the subdivision, became the main attraction during Houston’s hot summers.  The Dolphins' Swim Team competitions are well attended, and the pool is maintained by an independent Board.

In 1972, Fonn Villas Civic Association was founded, established bylaws, and controls the Maintenance Fund.  The Association is composed of nine Board members, each elected to serve three-year terms.  Monthly meetings are held at nearby Pines Presbyterian Church.
