The next meeting of the Fonn Villas Civic Association is Monday, April 4th, at 7:15 p.m. at Pines Presbyterian Church, in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to add an item to the agenda please contact Greg Holloway at bridgetholloway@gmail.com or by phone at 713-961-9681.
Directories are here
From Diane Donovan: By now you should have received your 2011 Fonn Villas Directory. If you have not received yours, please contact your block representative. The $5 you give for the Directory offsets costs for printing our directory and goes toward the General Fund that provides activities for our entire neighborhood, such as our annual picnic. Thank you for supporting Fonn Villas!
Also, the advertisers included in the Directory have chosen to support Fonn Villas. Please take a moment and see who these companies are and check them out! Let them know you are shopping there because of their support of Fonn Villas!
Block Representatives: Please make every effort to turn in your $5/household for the Directory to Ollie Aldrich on Kingsride at your earliest convenience.

It’s Almost Pool Time
The Fonn Villas Swim Club opens this season with an adult party on Saturday, April 30, and Splash Day on Sunday, May 1.
All adult Fonn Villas residents, including those who are not members, are invited. The party starts at 6:30 p.m. and features food catered by Carrabba's Italian Grill, door prizes, and music throughout the night.
The Club invites all residents to Splash Day, the first day of swimming, and the day to sign up for the swim team. Returning members, please bring your pool tag from last year to get it updated with a 2011 sticker.
Fonn Villas Swim Club encourages all to join. Please visit the pool on May 1 for a day of swimming and free ice cream. Check out all the club has to offer: a large pool with diving board and slide, a six-lane lap pool, a shaded baby pool, a clubhouse with bathrooms, a pavilion, BBQ grills, picnic tables, a basketball court, and plenty of lounge chairs.
If you have any questions about joining the swim club, contact Laura Tingleaf at 713-306-1357 or tingleaf4@att.net.
Swim team practice starts Monday, May 2. A complete schedule is available at www.fvsc.org.
Finally, to get the club's facilities and grounds in shape, consider volunteering on spruce-up day, Saturday, April 16, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Keeping Fonn Villas Safe - COP
The Citizens On Patrol program is one way to help keep Fonn Villas and all the families who live here safe. COP volunteers spend at least 2 hours every four weeks driving around Fonn Villas, keeping an eye out for suspicious activities. It’s a great, easy way of helping to keep our neighborhood safe and friendly.
Many new families have joined the program since the program was started again last year. If you’re looking for a low-key way to give back to Fonn Villas, please think about joining COP. For more info, contact Nick Hiemstra at nhiemst@yahoo.com.
Fonn Villas 50th Birthday Celebration
This year, Fonn Villas turns 50, and a celebration is in order. The Fonn Villas Civic Association has reserved money to have a party, but we need several people to organize this.
If you are interested, please contact any of the FVCA Board members or your newsletter editor, David Robertson at david@casa-robertson.org.
Teens Looking for Summer Work?
If you have teens that will be looking for summer employment, please send their info to the newsletter editor (david@casa-robertson.org); we'll consider publishing it in the May newsletter.
See Moving Trucks on Your Street?
Nete Sundt and Joke Bergen are the Fonn Villas Welcoming Committee. Please let them know when new families move-in on your street; they’ll arrange a warm welcome. Please give them a call when you see moving trucks.
