Bendwood Park Fitness Station update

Jack Long writes:  “Funds have been deposited with the Houston Parks Board for the proposed Fitness Stations.  After prior approval by the HPB and the city Parks and Recreation Department, the HPB was ready to issue a construction contract for the project to be completed this month.

The Parks Department recently informed us that they would require letters of support from our District G Councilman as well as the Super Neighborhood organization.  That process is underway.”

New Flag for Bendwood Park

Lon Kelley reports that we had a very good response to the request for a donation of a new flag.  Several residents expressed an interest in supplying the flag; the first offer was from Earl and Rita Lassere of Val Lena. The flag is in memory of their deceased son, Robert Paul, who died on Memorial Day 2009.

We need hoses!

The ongoing draught has required extensive watering of the new landscaping around the playground in Bendwood Park, along with some of the younger trees.

Unfortunately, we are missing one of our 10-foot sections of hose.  If you have any hoses to donate, please contact Jack Long at 713-465-8696.

Attention Caregivers

Sally Davis is a Fonn Villas resident and a nurse educator at the UT Health Science Center.

She writes:  Attention Fonn Villas residents who are providing care for a family member or loved one.  An educational program designed to equip family caregivers with effective self-care tools will be offered to Fonn Villas residents.  “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is a free, six-week program designed to provide the caregiver with techniques, knowledge, and support to better cope with and successfully manage the demands of caregiving.  Trained facilitators will lead this program.  If you are interested in enrolling in the program or desire more information, please contact Sally Davis at 713-827-1107 or firetop4@yahoo.com.
